Catpaper/Piddlepaws

“This product, with its white, waffle-textured, absorbent paper with plastic backing, proves to be an indispensable travel aid. It comes in 20-inch wide rolls and pre-cut 20-inch by 16-inch sheets.
The rolls work well for large areas and sheets prove ideal for small areas. Piddlepaws is the heavy-duty version of the same product designed for dogs.
The car upholstery was saved when a senior test cat missed the litter box on a bumpy road. It is a great carrier liner, too.
Inside hotel rooms, consider using these sheets as disposable place mats and litter traps. Crumpled and placed in the carrier, it helps your cat keep clean even after an accident. The manufacturer also recommends it to protect the furniture from cat hair and dander.
A starter package containing a 20-foot roll and 15 pads costs $9.65 plus shipping.

Versatile Litter Box Accessory Product

Cat owners who have struggled with cleaning up litter box misses, oversprays, cat sickbed accidents, or messes in the cat carrier, will appreciate the tough strength and versatility of Catpaper. I have discovered several non-cat uses for this product, and I bet readers will find even more. It is so simple, yet so ingenious an idea that one wonders, "what took you so long?"

Find a Need and Fill It

Litter box messes have been a perennial problem for cat owners. Even the tidiest cat will sometimes overshoot the box; high sprayers will decorate the wall behind the box, and most cats will either throw litter outside or deposit bits next to the box off their feet. It all goes with the territory. Since I have one of each type of cat, the prospect of one product that would take care of all those problems was exciting. Jaspurr is a high sprayer and he doesn't like covered boxes, so it was a simple solution to tape a pad of Catpaper on the wall behind the box. Bubba, old trooper that he is, has only recently been introduced to litter boxes (he's been an indoor-outdoor cat for most of his 16+ years.) He knows what the litter box is for - he scratches vigorously in it both before and after pooping. But he sometimes hangs his butt over the box and most of it lands on the floor. Catpaper to the rescue!

Lightweight But Tough

Catpaper is very lightweight. The soft topside is waffled, and extremely absorbent. It holds up to 2.4 fluid ounces per square foot, with no leakage. This makes it possible for vertical placement for high sprayers, without the fear of urine running down the wall, and also makes cleanup a breeze. Just pick up by the corners and discard.

Other Uses for Catpaper

These are some accessory uses for this versatile product. Imaginative readers will surely find more.
  • Lining Cat Carrier
To guard against messy accidents on trips, line the carrier with a layer or more of Catpaper.
  • Lining Birthing Box
Two or three pads of Catpaper will make an easier job of cleaning up the mess after birthing.
  • Lining Kitty's Sickbed
For one reason or another, sometimes cats can't make it to the litter box in time. A layer of Catpaper in the bed will help with cleanup when these accidents happen.
  • Target the Hairball
When you hear that hacking sound, quickly put a piece of Catpaper down as a target. Most cats will cooperate.
  • Lining the Litter Box
Some cat owners have found that cats will use their litter boxes with nothing but Catpaper as "litter."
  • Use as a Food and Water Mat
Keep your cats' food and water station neat by placing a large piece of Catpaper under the bowls to catch dribbles and splashover.
Non-Feline Uses for Catpaper

The glossy plastic face is impermeable to liquid.

  • Cioppino Bibs
Restaurants usually provide them, and with a pad of Catpaper pinned to your garment, you can scarf up cioppino in style, without leaving greasy stains on your clothing to tell the world what you've been eating.
  • Lining Placemats
I like the look of fabric placemats, but they don't always do the job of protecting my oak table from wet spills. Give your placemats an assist by putting a pad of absorbent Catpaper under each one.
  • Lining Car Trunk
If your car trunk is like mine, it can become the repository for messy things, such as wet umbrellas, leaky ice chests, or muddy shoes. A layer of CatPaper will take on the brunt of the mess, leaving your trunk reasonably clean and dry.
  • On-the-Fly Diaper-Changing Mat
Not really in my baliwick, but it seems to me that carrying a supply of Catpaper would help keep things sanitary when you find the need but can't find a convenient changing station.
In addition to the 20" x 16" pads, Catpaper comes in 20" wide rolls that can be cut to size. I have no connection with Catpaper, but it's a product that does exactly what it's advertised to do, and that always turns me on.

"...Catpaper works great in absorbing pee and catching litter. We tested it by placing sheets in front of the litter boxes where a couple of the test cats insist on going. We also put the Catpaper under an old test cat that leaks urine a little. Catpaper also worked effectively as a disposable litter mat. The manufacturer also recommends using it to protect the furniture from cat hair and dander..."

"...We found that the rolls work well for large areas and that the sheets work nicely for small areas."...

My Dear Clients, Colleagues & Friends,

As you know, I am always seeking and researching new products that will contribute to the well being of animals and their people. I don’t/won’t recommend anything I haven’t thoroughly tested and wouldn’t use myself.

I’m pleased to tell you about Catpaper. You may visit the site www.catpaper.com and learn all about it yourself but I’d like to highlight some things for you.

Catpaper is not just another absorbent, plastic-backed, collector of spills, accidents and incidents. It is a unique product that does all that but with superior qualities.

v It is non-toxic and environmentally friendly.

v It does not smell like plastic ~ a factor for those cats who are adverse
to that scent. In fact, it is odor-free.

v It comes in pads as well as rolls. The rolls permit you to cut to any
           length you may need.

v It is highly absorptive and blots very quickly so there is no dripping.
Other products will drip if picked up quickly.

v Catpaper will completely blot a vertical spray of urine and there is no
flaking if scratched or ripped open. Other products will flake out its
contents if torn even a bit.

v It is more economical to use ~ Do the math or ask Dr. Ken (the inventor)
to do it for/with you. 1-866-5459228 is Dr. Ken’s toll free phone number
for those who do not have access to a computer.

As part of my research, I replaced a litter box (by removing it completely for 12 hours) with Catpaper and it was used without hesitation.

I have no association (professional, business or otherwise) with Dr. Ken and Catpaper and recommend it because it works, I believe in it and think you will be pleased with it, too.

In my role working with cats (and dogs) who are chronically, acutely, terminally ill or recovering from illness, surgery or injury, I see many uses for Catpaper. As a behaviorist, Catpaper will serve to aid in damage control for cats with elimination disorders ( “The Out-Of-Litter Box- Experience” ) from the time of an initial consultation until the behavior is modified and extinguished.
